Sanctuary Soundman
The sound engineer’s toolbox: a two-way radio between everyone on the same Wi-Fi, a level meter with attitude, tools to tune a PA and measure a room, and everything a church sound team needs on Sunday.
What it does
- A two-way radio over the Wi-Fi, with channels, ALL CALL and a live view of who is talking
- Works with wired or Bluetooth earphones, and a hands-free mode
- A level meter in dBA, dBC and dBZ with a limit for your church, an analyser and a feedback finder
- Tune the PA and sweep a room with a measurement microphone, with EQ advice
- Sunday checklists, a run sheet, a gear list, a stage plot and input lists
- Calculators and reference: speaker delay, cable loss, coverage, a band mix map and more
Who it is for
Church sound volunteers and tech directors on Sundays, and sound engineers at bigger events.
Works on
Install it straight from this website on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Mac. The radio works while the app is open on screen.
Who can use it
Soundman is its own subscription (see the pricing page), with a 7-day free trial: you add your card to start, the first payment is taken on day 8, and you can cancel before then and pay nothing. It works on up to two of your own devices. Later, one plan for a church will cover every Sanctuary app.
Install it on your device
There is no App Store and nothing to download from a store. Open the app from this website, sign in, and put it on your home screen or desktop. After that it opens like any other app, even with no internet.
Android phone or tablet
Open the app in Chrome and sign in. A bar appears at the bottom: tap Install. (Or open the Chrome menu and choose Install app.)
iPhone or iPad
Open the app in Safari and sign in. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow), then Add to Home Screen.
Windows or Mac computer
Open the app in Chrome or Edge and sign in. Click Install in the bar, or the install icon at the right of the address bar.
- A phone or laptop microphone is not a calibrated measurement microphone. Use the numbers to compare and to stay inside a limit, and calibrate against a calibrator when you can.
- Soundman advises on EQ. It does not control a sound desk.
- The radio works while the app is open on screen, and Wi-Fi that isolates devices from each other (some guest networks) stops the radios finding each other.
